D&C 29:1-2

Jesus Christ will gather His people before He comes again.

Let the children color this week's activity page while you show the video "Chicks and Hens"...Ask the children to listen for how the hen protects the chicks.

After reading D&C 29:1-2, act out the analogy of Christ gathering his people "as a hen gathereth her chickens."

One child could pretend to be the hen and choose a corner of the room to stand in. When he or she "clucks," have all the children gather around him or her.

Acting is always more fun with props.

Children could take turns being the hen. Hold up a picture of the Savior and invite the children to gather to Him. Share with the children how Jesus helps us when we gather to Him.

I like to explain things to children where they can experience touch while they learn. If you let your children do the flipping and pulling while you teach I think it will mean a lot more to them. Instructions for assembly are available in the download.

D&C 29:2-11

I can prepare to meet the Savior.

Someday, each of us will be in the presence of Jesus Christ. While that day may be far into the future, the children can still think about what it will be like and how they can prepare for it.

We love this movie, I think it is a great way for children to see what it may be like to be in the presence of the Savior.

As a class, sing a song about the Second Coming, such as "When he Comes Again." (CSB 82-83).

D&C 29

Heavenly Father prepared a plan of salvation for me.

To help the children understand God's plan, make signs with these terms: pre-mortal life, the Creation, the Fall, Earth life, and the Second Coming. After explaining each term (see D&C 29:9-45), give each sign to a different child, and ask them to stand in a line in the correct order to show each event occurs in Heavenly Father's plan. Each child could share what he or she knows about what is on his or her sign. Help the children see how knowing about Heavenly Father's plan helps us become more like Him and the Savior.

The CFM- for families book also suggests something similar. I made this puzzle according to those directions, but if it is too much for you kids, then just teach to your kids level.

I love big floor puzzles that everyone can see, also the primary manual suggests making signs for the children to hold, the bigger version can serve as both.

I saw this and thought it would be fun for older children to fold some origami pieces as you learn about a hen gathering her chicks.

My last activity, for older children and families. Someone rolls a dice, answers the question and then gets a treat if the answer is correct. You can minus the treats, but I know it is a huge motivation for my kids to gather and study the gospel.
