Hello!

Hope you had a good break.

This week's lesson, I have a free object lesson. You can read about it in the lesson plan below:

Free LDS Come Follow Me youth, YM and YW lesson ideas for April 6-12, 2026

Here is the purchasable lesson. Click the image below to buy the lesson. You can read about the lesson below before purchasing.

This gift tag is already available in the lesson bundle, but you can purchase it separately by clicking on the image below.

Jesus Christ can save me because of His Atonement.

The only way for the Israelites to be spared from the tenth plague, described in Exodus 11:4–5, was to follow precisely the instructions the Lord gave to Moses in Exodus 12, a ritual known as the Passover. The Passover teaches us through symbols that just as the Lord delivered the Israelites from bondage in Egypt, He can also deliver us from the bondage of sin. To explore this symbolism in Exodus 12:1–42, you could use a chart like this one:

Grab their attention right away like this:

“Imagine you’re trapped and the only way out is to follow the instructions exactly.”

Hand them:

-Tape and red ribbon (crepe paper)

- a tortilla or bread

- lamb (stuffed animals or wool material)

-herbs if you can.

-Possibly sandals or anything else you can think of.

Quickly read through or pick your favorite verses in Exodus 12:1–42.

As you read, tell them to listen and decide what they think is best to do with the objects. In order to escape. Prep them that they will remember better if they just do it once they hear it.

Hopefully, by the time you are done reading, crepe paper will be taped to the front of the door. And they would have made a lamb sandwich with the tortillas and the herbs (or something of their own creation). Their shoes will be on their feet, and they will be ready for haste...or the rest of the lesson(:

Explain:

We left off at Joseph in Egypt; now the Egyptians have taken Joseph's posterity as their slaves. God's people, the Israelites, were being freed by Moses. See if anyone knows the story of Moses parting the Red Sea....what happened before that?

Explain that the 10th plague was where the oldest son of each house hold will die, but not the Israelites because they honored the instructions of the passover...exactly.

What instructions are we asked to follow today to deliver us from bondage and sin?

The rest of the lesson is available in my store, at the top of the page.

I have created another fun interactive chart.

First, put these pieces at the top of your board:

The next step is to put them in order and find the possible meaning. You will hand out cards like this:

They have to decide, based on the meaning, which symbol it could connect to. Move that symbol to the top of the order of the story.

This example will look something like this:

Moving the calendar to the top because they feel it best matches their meaning, matching, matching all over the place(: while also answering the question and filling in the column "God's Message to me." You can have students work in groups if they struggle to understand this part.

But it would look something like this:

I'll have a larger (2 11X8.5) key available at my store for teachers who would like to see the entire board while teaching. But here is what it looks like done:

Your Youth will probably not say what I have written in "God's message to me." It just helps give some ideas for summarizing the row.

If you still have time, you can watch this video from Elder Holland about the sacrament and ask the youth which symbols they found. Or new symbols that we haven't discussed.

Close with your testimony of Jesus Christ, really, all the symbols in the sacrament, and temple, and this week's lesson, point to Him.
