The word of God can make my way prosperous.

As He encouraged Joshua, the Lord gave counsel in Joshua 1:8 about the scriptures, or “the word of the law.” Considering Joshua’s heavy responsibility, why might this counsel have been especially helpful?

When the Lord invites us to read the scriptures, He often uses words that go beyond just reading. He also promises great blessings. The table below can help you discover these invitations and promised blessings:

This is such a great opportunity for your youth to help teach this lesson!

First-hand out panel cards similar to this:

There are 7 total. If you have a small class, use your teachers. You, the teacher, can teach whatever is left over. If you have a very large class, divide it into groups of 2 to teach the material.

I would lay them out and let them pick the picture or person they are drawn to. Tell them that each of them is going to teach a 2-3-minute (or whatever time you are allotted) about this scripture. Give them 3-5 min to read their scripture, answer the questions, and plan what they want to teach the class. If they want to read straight from the cards, that's ok, but tell them to pick two or three questions that they relate to and answer those specifically and intentionally.

Your board will look like this:

Print less option: You can hand them scissors and have them cut off their picture and put it on the board, under "Who" when it is their turn.

Or you can print the extra pictures in the lesson bundle and already have them placed on the board. If you do that, your board will look like this when you begin:

If you do it this way, the youth will know the order in which they are to go.

Assign someone to be the scribe and write down the invitations and blessings taught by the youth from these scriptures. Here is an example of what that might look like:

How has the Lord fulfilled these promises in your life? Now may be a good time to evaluate your scripture study habits. What’s going well? What do you feel inspired to do to have more meaningful experiences with the word of God?
