Come Follow Me, Free Print, LDS Youth, Young Men and Young Women Lesson helps

Peace is found in “holy places.”

The prophecy in section 87 warns about physical dangers related to war in the last days. But the counsel in this revelation also applies to spiritual dangers. Ponder questions such as the following:

I thought of another freebie!

Here are some pictures that the students can match to the scriptures.

It will look like this when done correctly:

After separating your board, so they can match up the Prophecies to how they were fulfilled. Like this:

You can still do this if you purchase my puzzle. When you get to the scripture part of the puzzle, they can take a break from that, do this, and come back.

  • What are the blessings of accepting the prophecies of God’s prophets?

With those thoughts in mind, read section 87. (For some historical context, you might also want to read the introduction to this outline.) What do you learn about prophecy from this revelation and the way it was fulfilled? What would you say to someone who doubts a prophecy because it is not fulfilled right away?

I didn't go into much of the history with the puzzle I created for this lesson. But it would be beneficial for you to know this, so you can summarize it for your students or assign a student to come prepared to share about it. I found it especially interesting that Joseph Smith received the revelation, but then the war didn't happen for many years, and he kept doubting himself...all the feelings. How can that relate to these youth and having faith in their future? And the words of the prophet? One of President Nelson's first talks was about the Second Coming. Was that just a beginner prophet mistake, or is there more to that? There is a lot we can learn from this.

What counsel does the Lord give in verse 8? What are your “holy places” where you find peace and safety? What makes a place holy? In addition to physical locations, perhaps there are holy times, holy practices, or holy thoughts that can provide peace. For example, how can the words of God’s prophets be a holy place for you? What does it mean to “stand” and “be not moved” from these places?

First, start by drawing an 8x10 box on the chalkboard (you can just trace a piece of paper).

Tell the youth to draw a picture of themselves inside the box. If you don't have a chalkboard, you can just pass around a blank piece of paper. In both situations, tell them to save room for everyone to draw themselves. They will have a lot of fun with this. Be careful not to let it take too long.

It may look something like this:

Then you will pass around pieces like this:

I would have liked to have done a colored option, but you are building a temple around the pictures of the students, so keeping it white seemed like the best option.

These are located at the bottom of the page in my store.

Tell them to look up their scriptures and have their answers ready to share when it is their turn. If you have a small class, hand out two or three pieces to each person. Giving them 5 min to look up scriptures and ask the teachers questions helps eliminate the "I don't know" response when it is time to share.

The first piece will go in the center, bottom of the rectangle you drew on the board, like this:

The youth will eventually reach a point where they have built a frame around themselves. There are lots of questions and opportunities for discussion. If you don't get the puzzle finished, but you were able to have a great discussion, count that as a win.

ree

This is where you bring out the steeple pieces. You place them on top of the frame and bear your testimony of the safety and peace of "Standing in Holy Places." They can not always be in the temple, but they can find a holy place in their school, bedroom, friends, and media choices. There is material like that covered in the pieces that build the frame, but it would be good to remind them as you close.
