Come Follow Me, Oct 28-Nov 3- "Be Thou an Example of the Believers"
Updated: Oct 23, 2019

I have a lot of activities for this Bishop section, lots of options to chose from. You know your kids better than anyone, just pick the ones that you know will relate best with their age and personality.
Come Follow Me- For Primary page 165 "Draw a simple picture of your bishop on the board."

For those Sunbeams or Younger kids that would like to play with the face to see which one looks the most like their Bishop.

Come Follow Me- For Primary page 165 "Ask the children to name some things they know about the Bishop. What is he like? What does he do? How does he bless the ward?" They suggest Reading 1Timothy 3:1-2, These scriptures are a little humor-us. with older children I would totally read them and maybe even make a list on the board, put a check mark by each one....to see if your Bishop is passing the test. (:
Here is a Getting to Know Bishop Activity. May want to text his wife to see what the answers, so we don't bother our busy Bishop....or encourage the children to ask the Bishop themselves.

Come Follow Me- For Primary page 165 "Write the duties of a Bishop on slips of paper....Place the slips in a bowl, and invite the children to pick one. Then help the Children role play these duties with you."

Here is for the Role Playing, everyone can take a turn being the Bishop and wearing the mask.

Come follow Me- For Primary page 166” Invite the children to draw a picture of the Bishop serving Ward members. Suggest that they give their drawings to him to thank him. What can we do to help him?”

I really like incorporating music whenever I can. The Primary song book has a Bishop song. You can point to the Bishop whenever you want the kids to sing with you that simple part, that is repeated so much.

Or you can hold up the bishop picture on cue. This Picture is from LDS Free clipart library.

Come Follow Me- For Primary page 166 "...talk about their most prized possession ...Let them take turns holding the scriptures and carefully turning the pages. What do we use the scriptures for? Why should we take good care of them"
Here is a story from the Friend about two brave girls that hide the translations of the scriptures in a corn field so the mobs wouldn't burn it.

Here is a story about how Joesph Smith got the Golden Plates, and how he had to hide them.
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/friend/2017/02/golden-plates-to-book-of-mormon?lang=eng
Here is a printable of the time line for the Golden Plates.
Here is a story about missionaries that baptized a man after he found a Book of Mormon on the ground.
Here is a story of a Maid that loved to read the Bible, heard about the Book of Mormon and wanted to read it. She was so excited when the missionaries gave her a copy, she read it 3 times.

These are all stories that focus on the "prized possession" that we are so lucky to have in our homes.
After sharing these stories/story I would do as the manual suggests "look for ways to encourage them to have their own powerful experience with the word of God"
Here is a scripture that will challenge them to pray and have their own personal experience.

Here is a printable that you can share with the children, to put in their scriptures, or to hang on their fridge this week.

This is an idea from Mitzi at https://emiscrafty.com/2018/12/10/come-follow-me-2019-lesson-plans/ The focus scripture is Timothy 4:12. She suggests that you attach them to yellow candy or yellow cookies and give them to someone who has been a good example in your life.

The Black and white is still actually really cute.

Read 1 Timothy 6:7-12
Come Follow Me- For Primary page. 167 “Lay out pictures of worldly things (such as money, toys, or entertainment) and eternal things (such as families or temples). Invite the children to sort the pictures into two piles-things that bring us closer to Christ and things that might distract us from Christ if we love them more than we love Him. Why is ”the love of money....the root of all evil?”
Here are some pictures I gathered for your sorting fun.

Mitzi has some fabulous free lesson plans. https://emiscrafty.com/2018/12/10/come-follow-me-2019-lesson-plans/ I always combine my ideas with hers when I teach my kids, she is very talented.
Hope you have a great Day!
