Come Follow Me 2020, Jan 27-Feb 2, 1 Nephi 16-22, "I will prepare the way before you."
Updated: Jan 25, 2020

Come Follow Me for Primary page 17 "Point out that when Lehi's family was not obedient, the Liahona did not work."
Here is an idea to help tell the story, and while reading the scriptures open the Liahona and ask if it is working after each event.

The best kind of brad would be those tiny ones used for scrapbooking. But I don't have those, so my spindles have to spin together.

This print out can be used to write clues on to describe a location in the church, or you can place scriptures a picture of a prophet, church magazine, etc...around the room. When the children find them they can stick a Liahona on them, because they are....”What helps us today to find our way back to Heavenly Father.” CFM-For Primary page 17

The Manual suggests having the children draw pictures to tell the story of Nephi's bow breaking. I love it! Do it.
Come Follow Me- for Primary page 18 "As you tell the story of Nephi's broken bow, invite them to use the faces to show how Nephi's family was feeling during different parts of the story.
Here is a printable to help you teach that:

Mitzi has a really fun way to teach this at comefollowmekid.com
She had me make these name tags for here cute lesson.

For older children the manual asks them to make one goal to help their families. I thought this would be a fun idea, to tie that into Nephi's story. But, I don't encourage doing this at church. Too irreverent, and you only have a limited amount of time. Maybe you can hand it out to the children as they leave. Great for home, there parents will love it(:

And surprisingly, it really does work!

Maybe encourage something without a point, so they don't hurt anyone. And tell them not to aim at people. Can you tell I'm nervous? I'm not responsible for any injury...maybe I should have you sign a waiver(:
Come Follow Me For- Primary page 18 “Tell the children the story of Nephi being commanded to build a boat, using 1 Nephi 17:7-19 and 18:1-4.”

If I was teaching this to Senior Primary I would pass out the puzzle pieces and have them read the scripture, as they build the boat together, you can discuss the scriptures with them. For example, it looks like Nephi hadn't built a fire before now, because the Lord asked him not to while he traveled through the wilderness. My kids found that interesting, that the Lord taught him to do even that.
